Kit List - Winter Weekend

This is a suggested list but it is not absolute - you should decide what you will need:

Walking gear:
- T-shirt (preferably not cotton), base layer, thermals
- Leggings, walking trousers, tracksuit bottoms (not jeans)
- Jumper, sweatshirt, fleece
- Waterproof jacket with hood
- One or two pairs of gloves/mitts
- Woollen hat and scarf
- Waterproof overtrousers
- Thin inner and thick outer walking socks
- Underwear
- Strong walking boots (which have been broken in!)
- Gaiters
- Change of clothes for the evening

NOTE: you will be walking for two days so remember to bring at least a 30 ltr Rucksack, big enough to carry spare clothing, lunch, waterproofs and equipment that you may get from the team .Lots of warm clothes in case you get wet on the first day. To keep warm on the hills it is best to wear lots of layers of clothes rather than one thick layer. One idea would be to have 4 layers - start off with your thermals, t-shirt or base layer then a long sleeved t-shirt followed by a sweatshirt and a thick fleecy/windproof top. You should also bring a spare jumper/fleece to keep in your rucksack.

Equipment:
- Rucksack (Minimum size 30 ltr) with waterproof inner containing:
- Map case and map
- Compass
- Survival bag
- Small first aid kit, including spare laces for your boots
- Whistle
- Spare jumper/fleece
- Spare hat and gloves
- Torch, with spare battery (headtorch recommended)
- Emergency food - Kendal mint cake, or mars bars are ideal
- Flask for hot drink
- Water bottles

NOTE: if you don't have everything listed above then don't worry, speak to your leader at the preliminary meeting before the weekend and ask their advice.
